Why I Became a Public Adjuster

After Hurricane Ian made landfall in September 2022, I was hired by an insurance carrier to inspect damaged properties across Southwest Florida. I was a rookie adjuster, part of a catastrophic deployment team, and I went into the work with a straightforward expectation: inspect the property, document the damage, and help move the claim forward.

What I found in the field changed the direction of my career.

I walked roofs, photographed storm damage, and met homeowners who were trying to rebuild their lives while navigating an insurance process most people never expect to face. I saw how complicated claims become after a major storm, and how much the outcome can depend on the quality of the documentation, the accuracy of the estimate, the clarity of communication, and a working understanding of the policy.

I learned that the person inspecting the property is not always the final person making decisions on the claim. I saw how easily homeowners can feel overwhelmed, unheard, or underprepared when they don't understand the process or don't have someone advocating for their interests.

That experience is why I became a public adjuster. I didn't just want to inspect properties. I wanted to be the person who thoroughly documents the damage, organizes the evidence, understands the policy, communicates clearly, and helps homeowners present their claim properly.

Bear Claims was built on a simple belief: the outcome of a claim often depends on how well the loss is documented, explained, and supported.

My goal is to make sure every client's claim has the strongest possible foundation, through detailed inspections, accurate Xactimate estimates, clear communication, and professional documentation that serves everyone involved in resolving the claim: homeowners, attorneys, appraisers, umpires, carriers, and contractors alike.

Every claim is different. Outcomes depend on the specific facts, policy terms, documentation, and applicable Florida law.
